New Content and Improved Presentation
Gotta Catch Botiman » Devlog
Hi, everyone!
When I first submitted this game for the GMTK jam, it wasn't everything I wanted it to be. I had to cut out major features and neglected audio entirely. In my spare time, I've made little changes to improve the overall experience and bring it closer to what I had first intended.
The following changes have been made:
- Enemy creatures are pulled from a random pool instead of being the same one every encounter.
- Trainers can attempt to "capture" you, leading to an escape mini-game
- Music has been added, as well as sound effects.
- Whimsical action descriptions, including the type of the action
- Feedback for if an action is effective or ineffective
- Cleaner visual presentation with a new font
While there's still a major feature left cut, I feel these changes make the game much more presentable and enjoyable. Please consider checking it out if you enjoyed the original project and have a minute to spare. Thanks for checking out my game!

I hereby proclaim myself as the Botiman hi-score world record holder until proven otherwise.
I'm glad to see you got around to update the game, I'm surprised to see how much better it got with small changes and additions.
And I finally understood the sprite that represents Botiman while on the high grass! It's a tail! Like Botiboy's! I saw it as some sort of scythe and couldn't understand it before.
Hey, thanks so much for playing the update!
I remember worrying that the tail sprite wasn't clear enough during the jam. But, hey, I was just getting most of my visual assets from game-icons.net and trying to make the most of it. Guess that's how it goes. I do like a cool scythe, though.
